How we work
A document issued in another country will not be accepted in Ukraine as it stands: it must first be legalised in the country that issued it, then translated into Ukrainian and certified here. The most common and most expensive mistake is bringing the document to Ukraine and looking for somewhere to apostille it. Only the issuing state can apostille its own document; it cannot be done in Ukraine, and people end up travelling back or arranging it remotely. It is worth confirming the route before you leave, not after.

Frequently asked questions
Can a foreign document be apostilled in Ukraine?
No. Only the state that issued a document can apostille it, and only through its own authorised body. A document already in Ukraine without an apostille usually has to be sent back or handled through someone acting on your behalf in that country. This is exactly why the requirement is worth checking before you travel.
Is a missing apostille always a problem?
Not always. Ukraine has legal assistance treaties with a number of states, and documents from them are accepted without any apostille — a certified translation is enough. Which countries and which document types those cover has to be checked case by case, as it is not uniform even within one country. Send a photograph and we will check.
A child was born abroad. What is needed for Ukraine?
Usually the foreign birth certificate with an apostille (or without one, where a legal assistance treaty applies), a translation into Ukrainian and notarial certification. Pay particular attention to the spelling of the name: it must match how the child will be recorded in Ukrainian documents, or the discrepancy will have to be corrected later.
Do the apostille stamp and seals need translating?
Yes. The Ukrainian authority has to read the document in full, certification wording, stamps and seals included. Where part of the wording is illegible we mark it as such in the translation rather than guessing.
My document is in a language not on your list. Will you take it?
Most likely yes: we work with more than forty languages regularly and source rarer ones per order. Send a photograph of the document and a manager will confirm the language, the timeframe and the price.
